Biden's endorsement is at the highest level

In a new poll, US President Joe Biden's approval rating has reached its highest level in nearly a year, according to an NPR-PBS poll, with the percentage rising to 46%.

The poll, released on Wednesday, found that Biden's approval rating after his second State of the Union address was the highest since March 2022.

And he has seen an improvement among respondents across the political spectrum, with his approval among Democrats rising from 85 percent in January to 88 percent and his approval among independents rising from 32 percent to 36 percent.

His approval rating among Republicans also rose from 13 percent last month to 15 percent in February, the highest level in the poll during his presidency.

The poll also found growing confidence among Democrats ahead of Biden's expected bid for re-election in 2024.

Half of Democratic respondents said the party has the best chance of hanging on to the White House with Biden as the nominee, while 45 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents said the party would have a better chance with another nominee.

And in November, 54 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents said they would prefer another candidate.

And Biden saw the biggest improvement in endorsements from white participants without college degrees, those earning less than $50,000 a year, those under 45 and women who live in small towns or suburbs.

On the public side, the poll found that a majority of Republican and Republican-leaning independents, 54 percent, said their party would have a better chance of winning in 2024 if there was someone else running than former President Trump.

While 42 percent said Trump would give the party his best shot, up seven points from November.

Trump has already announced his bid for the White House and is set to face a crowded GOP field in 2024, while Biden is expected to launch his re-election campaign in the coming weeks, just months after Democrats outperformed expectations in the midterm elections.
